Holden leaves Phoebe's room to call an old english teach Mr. Antolin, he was the only teach of showed any courage in approching James's death. He offers to let Holden spend the night at his house. Holden comes back in and asks his sister to dance. They hear the door shut and parents have came home. He tries to get rid of the cigerette smoke and hides in the closet. His mom comes in to tuck Phoebe in. When she leaves Holden come out ot the closet and tells Phoebe about his plan to move out west alone. She gives him all her christmas money. All the emotions from remembering Antolin picking up the boys body in his coat and the kindness of his sister makes him bust into tears. On the way out he leave her with his red hunting hat.
It's so cute that after his experience with the girls at the club he asks his sister to dance. Its so huge that he gives her the red hunting hat. This means he will no longer be depressed or insecure. This is big for Holden! I'm proud of him
