Holden goes back to Phoebe and tries to explain to her why he hates school and all the bad things about it. She accuses him of hating everything and tries to get him to name 1 thing that he likes. He thinks about the nuns and James a kid who jumped out the window at school from people picking on him. Holden mentions he likes Allie and while on the subject of death she asks him what he going to do with his life. He answers, if a body catch a body comin through the rye. He says he imagines a field of rye up on top of a cliff with children playing he stands to stand at the edge and catch the kids who get too close to falling off. Phoebe informs him he has the lyrics wrong and the real words are, if a body meet a body coming through the rye.
Finally an something more about the title. I think it's like he wants to help people that are in danger and hurting. Maybe people suffering from depression like him or kids who have gotten off their path of life.
