Holden reaches his family's apartment building the regular elevator operator is new so he tell his he is visiting a family across the hall. He gets in and is looking for Phoebe he finds her in D.B.'s room because she likes sleeping in there when he is gone. She is sleeping peacefully. Holden comments children unlike adults look peaceful while there sleeping. He looks through her school book and read the notes and side notes she has written. He wakes her up and she goes on about everything thats going on. The movie she just saw, the boy bullying her, and school. She realizes he's home early and that he must have been kicked out. She keeps repeating dad will KILL you. Annoyed Holden covers her head with a pillow and leaves to get cigerettes.
Finally he is home where he belongs. I think its pretty much the same when my brothers get home. I try to catch them up and ask them lots of questions! Oh home sweet home
