James Gatz young 17 yr. old boy was out and about and told Dan Cody that winds were coming and this act of kindness started his $ career. James worked for a year as a calm digger and salmon fisher. He worked at St. Olaf in minn. for 3 weeks a a janitor. Cody was involved in the metal indus. and was many times a millionarie. (106) Young Gatz saw cody and smiled at him because he knew poeple liked him when he smilied. Cody took him to town and bought Gatz blue coat 6 trousers and a yachting cap and when he left for Tuolomee Gatz left with them. Gatz worked with him for 5 years and making 3 trips around the continent. One day Ella Kaye came on board and a week later Cody wad dead. ---- Gatsby had another one of his parties and Nick came over. Then Daisy and Tom came together also. Daisy and Gatsby danced together and snuck off and sat on the stairs together. Tom gets curious and says he is going to find out what Gatsby's past really is. He guesses that he's really a bootlegger. After the party Nick stays and talks to Gatsby... Gatsby doesn't think that Daisy had a good time. Gatsby wants Daisy to say to Tom that she never loved him. Gatsby says he will make it just like the past. Very determined...
