Chapter 5

Nick came home from the evening with Jordan. Gatsby was walking over to him. He wanted him to go to Coney Island or go swimming. Nick says no to all these offers. So when Gatsby is walking away slightly disappointed he says hey I talked to Jordan tonight and I'm going to call Daisy tomorrow. Nick asks what day would suit him best. Gatsby doesn't on the date but they finally decide one. Gatsby says he knows Nick isn't very wealthy and offers him a business on the side to raise some more money. Nick is completely not interested and walks away. Next morning Nick calls Daisy and tells her not to bring Tom. It pouring raining but the butler comes over and cuts Nicks grass. Nick goes to town and buys 12 lemon cakes and supplies for tea. Gatsby comes over wearing a white suit, a silver shirt, and a gold tie. He is very ansty and gets up saying he is going home because no one is coming for tea. They hear the car pulling up, Nick goes outside and greets Daisy. When they get inside Gatsby isn't there. They hear a knock on the door and its Gatsby, soaking wet, and out of breath. They get to talking and remember each other. Gatsby makes a comment about how it will be 5 years this November. Which kinda shocks Daisy and Nick that he knows that. Nick gets up and goes to the kitchen and Gatsby follows. Nick tells him that he is acting like a little boy and being rude by leaving her in there by herself. Gatsbys goes back in and Nick leaves them be and takes a walk. Nick returns and makes as much noise as possible so they know he's back. He walks in to see Daisy crying and Gatsby glowing. They go over to Gatsby house to show Daisy around. She loves it. Gatsby is almost is a daze because he has been waiting so long for this day. They go into his room and he opens his draws tossing out beautifu shirts and saying how they are sent to him from England every fall and spring (98). Daisy starts crying again over the beautiful shirts. She goes to the window and makes him come and look to at the beautiful sunset. She says I want to put you on one of those pink clouds and push you around. They sit on the couch Gatsby takes her hand, she whispers in his ear, you can see the emotion rush into him. Nick gets up and leaves them there together.
