Chapter 5

Holden is talking about the steak meal they get once a week for supper. But it's a lousy steak and bad potatoes. Just makes it sound good for the parents. It's snowing outside and everyone is throwing snowballs. Mal Brossard, Ackley, and Holden went to get hamburgers and out to a movie. But ackley and mal had already seen it.. so they get ate and came back. Ackley is talking about sex but Holden says Ackley is a virgin if he ever saw one. Holden kicks Ackley out of his room so he can write Stradlater's comp paper. He chooses to write it over he's brothers old baseball mit. He brother died 2 years ago. He was the nicest kid and had red hair. You couldn't make him mad easily. He played right field so he would write poems on his glove in read ink to read while people were batting. It took Holden an hour to write then he typed it on a crappy typewriter. He layed in bed and couldn't sleep and couldn't hear Ackley snoring in the next room over. Then goes to think about Ackley how he has pimples, sinus trouble, lousy teeth, halitosis, crumby fingernails you had to feel sorry for the crazy sonuvabitch.

I really liked the story about his brother. But I don't think I'd write a paper for my roommate... Pretty nice of him. I wonder what else he had in his past. Anymore deaths? or tramas?
