Nick Carraway came East in spring 1922. He lives out in the country alone. Says its the strangest community in North America. Living on an island east of New York, on the west egg. Lives on the very tip of the island house is $80 a month and right beside the Gatsby mansion. Nick went to the west egg to visit 2 old friends. Tom and Daisy Buchanan.. went to school with Tom and is cousins to Daisy. He thinks Ms. Baker looks familiar and later finds out why.. he has seen her pictures all over on different golf courses. Tom has some other woman who lives in New York. It says that Nick served in the war. I found this quote interesting.. "I'm glad its a girl. And I hope she'll be a fool- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world a beautiful"... made me think.. when Nick returns from the island to his house he sees a figure in the lawn with his arms outstretched across the water. He thinks its Mr. Gatsby and it looks like he is trembling. But next thing he knows the figure is gone.
