Chapter 1

In the beginning of ch. 1 Henry tells his mother he is going to enlist in the army. He mother tells him not to but he does it anyways. So she packs him new socks, shirts, and jam to take with him. He leaves home feeling down because all his mother said was watch out and be a good boy. She doesn't seem to concerned with him leaving. He is waiting for the battle/attack.. I was confused about the tall and loud soldiers. The soliders are trying to find out what is just rumors or if they are really going to attack. We've found out this is during the civil war. When it talks about the youth.. are they talking about Henry in particular? or youth in general?
