Chapter 1: The boys are at baseball practice before they'll need to sign up for teams. The coach says Sly just hit it, your trying to kill it. Sly wasn't doing well at the practice so he didn't sign up at school to be on a team. When he played he always got teased. So the next day instead of going to practice he sat on the bleachers and watched. One day a man approched Sly and talked to him at the ball field. He wanted to know why Sylvester isn't playing. He say he can see that his heart is bleeding to be out there. George tells him to stick around until the other boys get outta practice and he will make Sly the best player Hooper has ever seen.
Chapter 2: George pitched to Sly and watches him hit all his balls to the outfield. He tell him to ask the next tomorrow if he can still sign up to play. The next day he asks the coach but coach says it's too late and the team is now full. Sly tells Mr. B, who says he'll think of an idea to get him on. Again Sly sits on the bleachers during there practice. Mr. B tells Sly to go ask the coach if he can take a few pop flys. He did and the coach let him. He caught 2 normal flys then 2 that the coach rocketed up as high as he could. Sly went back to Mr. B and they started talking. Mr. B says he is in Hooper on vacation and just for the summer. The outfield coached told the head coach about Sly. The head coach called Sly back on to the field and asked him to hit. Sly did and hit 3 homeruns.
