F. Scott Fitzgerald 1896-1940
I've learned that Fitzgerald's stories represent his life and relationship with wife Zelda. Who he married after returning from serving in the army.He dropped out of school his senior year in hopes for seeing action in WW1. Him and his wife lived a lavish lifestyle in New York. It shows them as the classic Americans through their worst and best times. He often used his wife's emotional breakdowns in his own writings. Fitzgerald suffered from alcoholism with interfered with life personal and work life which required hospitalisation at times. He later died of a heart attack in Hollywood. Zelda died eight years later from a fire at the hospital she was staying at. Fitzgerald attended St. Paul Academy where he fell in love with theatre and writing sparking his writing career. Then attended Princeton for 4 years. His works have been comments on saying his style is experimental.

Fitzgerald proclaimed: "An author ought to write for the youth of his generation, the critics of the next, and the schoolmasters of ever afterward." Discuss what you think this quote means and how it might be important to understanding this book.
I think this quote means that whatever you write you will be affecting different people. The youth of now will be influenced by your writing, critics wills always be trying to find the flaws in your works, and the schoolmasters will teach it for years to come.

In the 1920's America has won the first world war. For a while the US enjoyed the prosperity. Life was full of jazz and dancing. Henry Ford became mass production of his cars. Another famous names were gangsters Dutch Schultz and Al Capone. Women were allowed the right to vote and made an impact wearing lip stick, eyeliners, nail polish an PEARLS! Thousands of black and white films were produced. Radio stations boomed all over the US with this jazz age. The stock market crashed on Black Thursday. This was responsible for the great depression. It hit, and it hit hard. Times became hard, dark, sad, depressing, and rough.
"Exegi monumentum aere perennius." Meaning I have erected a monument more lasting than bronze. This to me means he has created something that cannot be destroyed and will last forever. His works will live on forever through the people and his hardwork will never be lost.
